The Bird Streets Minimalist Icon

Core Technical Brief
"CAD Stone Works fabricated and installed the complete natural stone and porcelain program for this contemporary estate of more than 12,000 square feet in the Bird Streets of Los Angeles, ZIP 90069. The program spans a faceted Calacatta Black basement bar, dual Cristallo quartzite kitchen islands, a full slab Bronze Vena master bath, Belvedere Black Matte in the master suite and dining room, and travertine across the pool and exterior decks. Architecture by IR Architects. Development and general contracting by DCW Signature Homes. Stone fabrication and installation by CAD Stone Works."
I. Concierge Sourcing & Procurement
This estate called for a precise and varied material matrix, and CAD Stone Works sourced every slab through its trade accounts and importer network across Los Angeles. We selected Calacatta Black for the sculptural basement bar and powder rooms, Cristallo quartzite for the kitchen islands, Bronze Vena for the master bath, Belvedere Black Matte for the master suite and dining room, and travertine for the pool and exterior decks. Each slab was inspected and chosen at the yard for color, density, and veining direction, then routed to our Los Angeles fabrication shop.
II. Technical Vetting & Precision Fabrication
The basement bar is the signature piece. Fabricated from Calacatta Black, it is a faceted, angular form with a floating countertop, and its dramatic white veining was mapped and matched panel to panel so the movement reads continuously across the island and the back bar. During layout we engineered the slab yield with care, steering the strongest figure into the most visible faces and allocating material across the work areas with intention. The kitchen islands were fabricated from Cristallo, a luminous quartzite with warm gold veining that stands in deliberate contrast to the dark bar. In the master bath, Bronze Vena was run as full slab walls with a floating stone vanity, the veining carried across the surfaces for a single continuous field. Every piece was vetted for fissures and verified for uniform thickness before cutting.
III. Logistics & Architectural Installation
Moving heavy and precise stone elements up the narrow, winding roads of the Bird Streets is a logistical challenge in itself. CAD Stone Works coordinated specialized transport and rigging and aligned delivery with the general contractor for a clean sequence on site. Final installation was executed to architectural tolerances using specialized setting systems where required, leaving a structurally sound and visually seamless result that holds true to the design intent.
