Canon Drive Residence: A Full Slab Program in the Beverly Hills Flats
Technical Brief

Project Matrix
Two Primary Bathrooms, Two Materials
The residence carries separate primary bathrooms. His is executed entirely in Bardiglio slabs across the shower walls, ceiling, floor, curb, bench, and slab lined soap niches, with the vein mapped to run continuously across the wall panels and turn each corner. Hers is executed in pink onyx across the shower floor, walls, bench, and the casing all around including the shower door jambs. Onyx is softer than marble and translucent enough to show any inconsistency at an edge, which makes wrapped casing and jamb returns the least forgiving work in the house.
Substrate Before Stone
CAD Stone Works prepared the wall assembly before setting any stone. Lath, scratch coat, and brown coat are included in every installation rather than billed as an addition. Steam showers receive two coats of Hydroban waterproofing as standard, and Hydroban is available on other shower walls at the client's election. We do not set stone over a substrate we did not build.
Kitchen and Integrated Sinks
The kitchen program covers the island, the perimeter and peninsula runs, the main backsplash, a waterfall countertop between the kitchen and the family room, and a wall slab set between the window frames. Three integrated sinks were milled directly into the slabs and waterproofed, one at the island and two on the perimeter run. Bardiglio carries through the kitchen countertops.
Four Fireplaces
Four fireplaces were fabricated and installed. The living room fireplace is a dimensional Bardiglio surround and hearth, stepped forward from the paneled wall, wrapping into the firebox opening with mitered returns, with the vein carried across the face, around both returns, and onto the hearth. The master bedroom fireplace is pink onyx, executed as a stepped surround with a recessed reveal and an inner frame at the firebox. A hearth was fabricated for the master bathroom, and a fireplace for the cabana.
Exterior and Cabana
The exterior scope covers two barbecue countertops, one with an integrated undermount sink. The cabana received countertops, a fireplace, and a bathroom vanity wall slab. Additional interior scope includes a butler countertop, a laundry countertop with full backsplash, two powder room countertops, office backsplashes, a stone frame around the primary bathroom mirror, and soap niches throughout the secondary bathrooms.
